Floor
2005. Fabric, glass spheres, nine light bulbs. 20 x 2.5 m
Collaboration with Silvio Vujičić and Damir Očko
A floor of the museum’s corridor is covered with numerous tiny glass pearls - appearing as whitish powder that gets slightly carried away by people walking over it, and slowly crackles beneath one’s feet. The light bulbs are suspended from the ceiling, very low, arranged in a row, swinging lightly, being casually moved by the visitors. The refraction of light from glass pearls creates the appearance of a three- dimensional, ghostlike spherical object floating around the light bulb that is closest to the observer. If one lifts the bulb, the object grows; if we let it swing, this structure opens into a ball-like shape and then closes again. Walking away from it, the object slowly disappears.
